CROYDON RACING IN 2007:

We have now started the 2007 Race season with three cars running- plus sponsorship of two other vehicles as well!

CROYDON WHOLESALERS RACING TOYOTA SUPRA:

The Supra is back out on the track again this season after a winter layover and marketing of the car for sale. Stil unsold at the the start of January, we made the decision to run again for the 2007 drag calender and have had another dynotuning session at Torque Performance where Robin and Dave netted no less than 594.6kW at the wheels. Our first appearance was the Dragmasters event at Champion Dragway, Meremere, where we encountered a misfire issue from a pre-set boost cut, and unable to run at boost limit, were forced to restrict the car to low boost. The best pass of the day was a leisurely 10.0 @ 132mph.

Our next meeting is the Four and Rotary Nationals to be held on Sunday the 28th of January at Champion Dragway. We anticipate solving our tuning issues and being able to run under full power at this meeting.

The forthcoming HKS Import Battle to be held at Lakeside Dragway, Taupo, on Saturday the 17th of February, sounds exciting but with a commentary role to be comfirmed, we have to decide whether to run the car at this event or not.

CROYDON RACING IN 2006:

There has been a lot of speculation about the future of Croydon Wholesalers Racing over the past year. Both the Skyline and the Supra last saw track action in early 2005, since then, little has been heard about either car. Here is the latest update!

CROYDON RACING NISSAN SKYLINE GT-R:

We officially retired the Nissan Skyline GT-R "Godzilla" at the conclusion of the 2005 racing season. The last time the car saw action on the track was the NIX Crew "Charity Drags" event held at Meremere in April, when Glenn Suckling piloted the car to several 8-second passes and 6th-gear burnouts before running out of NOS and packing up for the day.

At this stage, we have no further plans to race the world-record beating Skyline, and the car has been placed into storage in complete and turn-key condition, still proudly wearing the colours run on the 8.555-second pass in Australia taking the record for a DOT-legal tyred street-legal Skyline ET in the world.

Officially, the Skyline is for sale- although we have yet to advertise the car around the world, we invite serious registrations of interest for purchase, complete with a number of spares.

CROYDON RACING TOYOTA SUPRA STREET-DRAGGER:

The Supra has suffered set-back after set-back during an extensive rebuild over the winter months. Mostly due to parts supply issues, the build time of the car has stretched from a mid-December roll-out to late January at the earliest- possibly even February- trying our patience and that of our supporters!

The Supra is running an all-new set-up for 2006. The troublesome 5-speed gearbox with triple-plate Tilton clutch set-up has been replaced in favour of an all-new TH400 3-speed built automatic, fabricated by the Gearbox Factory with new American drag racing components, a Boostlogic / Supercar Performance Centre torque converter, TH400 Supra adaption kit, 3000rpm high-stall and a transbrake valve body.

This set-up mirrors that used by many top Stateside street-legal Supra racers and we hope will assist in propelling the Supra into the 9's this year.

Horsepower has not been forgotten either. The trusty Murch-built Motorsport Engineering single hybrid turbo has been set aside in favour of a mighty T88-34D, with new 4" downpipe, 46mm Tial external wastegate, Boostlogic low-mount side-slung manifold and new intercooler plumbing. On the intake side, a new GReddy intake plenum shines behind an Infiniti Q45 throttle body, fueled by new top-feed 1000cc injectors and an HKS fuel rail.

Delays in shipping the final few components required to cure a top-end misfire mean that we may not make it to the "Nationals" event this year, although Robin at Torque Performance and his team are working furiously to get the car re-loomed with a new Link G-2 by the weekend. Watch this space!
